Food Buyer (Initial 6-month contract) Kent

Portfolio Procurement has been engaged by our leading Kent based client to recruit for a Food Buyer on an initial 6-month contract. The role: To support the strategic purchasing of packaging/ingredients through effective data analysis, forecasting using systems (Microsoft Dynamics & Excel) and market research, with an objective to provide timely availability of materials for operations/production team. Main responsibilities: * Negotiate terms of contract. * Maintain relationships with existing suppliers and source new suppliers. * Understand the basic rules of vendor management, allocation, and price negotiation. * Liaise with other departments within the organisation to ensure projects are completed. * Planning, monitoring, and maintaining suitable inventory levels. * Raising, placing, and tracking Purchase Orders. * Ensuring products are purchased at the right time, to specification and at best possible price Skills and Experience * Previous experience as a Buyer within a food manufacturing company * A strong academic background, with a qualification in a related discipline. * Advanced excel skills and good knowledge of all other Microsoft products. * Working knowledge of ERP Systems. * High attention to detail. * Outstanding written and verbal communication skills. * Numerical and analytical skills.
